Oh, my dearest 'oldie but goldie' kpop group is baaaaack! *feeeeelllllsssss
They have been around for a long time, actually - they're one of the og's of kpop... So many great/hit songs. I cant wait to see what they have prepared for this cb... My feels are strong, so I'm gonna probably love it, but we'll seeee. Does anyone of you remember Shinhwa's song 'This love' I've reviewed long time ago... anybody? (vogue dance, remember?)

That, my friends, was amazing!
Arrangement is simple... I mean, it's not packed with the bunch of unnecessary things. It's just a simple beat, but with the interesting detailing - sound effects (glass breaking, shotguns blast, distortions...). I like how the whispering and the vocals are in focus, rather than music! 
That whispering at the beginning - it's there to compel you 100%... and than baaang - wake up!!! And ofc, it continues throughout the whole song in the background, so you can't snap out of it....mwuahahhahah!
You can feel the gradation/progression through the vocals order, and the way they've divided their parts, as well through the music - the way it builds its way to the peak - even tho there is that one constant beat repeating. Not that much singing, tho... They kinda rapping most of the time (except Hyesungs, Dongwans and Minwoos singing in the chorus)...but I don't mind it. I don't mind at all...
This song makes you wanna stare and listen and enjoy - witchcraft, people....
I like how the song stops/breaks in the middle, and that whispering part comes back again, and than that bridge kinda wraps it nicely, and than chorus repeats, but every time the chorus sounds a little bit different than the previous - doesn't that makes the song sounds dynamic... therefore not boring?!
And the harmony of 6 manly seductive voices...oh boy, I really like this song... Biased? Hell I am....
Andy's having more than one line - wooooow *fascinated 
Eric finishes like a boss of the bosses - my fav member. khhhhhh! *approving enchanted... Kings are back, and they killin' it!!!

About the MV:
I'm loving the slow motion theme. Sets/scenographies are sick - dark, creepy and kinda weird. 
Every member's clothes has it's own concept, and it matches with the girl's (girls') outfit concept as well. How cute is that. I'm not the fan of the animal prints tho... but I get the idea... And the red is for passion...
They're, obviously, some kind of... wicked... cold blooded masters or smtn like that...
Intense, friends, intense! 50 shades vibes... 
The dance - smooth and immersing. But those poker faces... glances and looks... Once again, intense s**t, friends!
The lyrics - they are snipers, and the girl is their target - they're aiming for her heart! How poetic...)^^

Every.f in.time they succeed to show something new, fresh, and different. How's that even possible....? Youngsters (younger kpop groups) should watch and learn!
Did I mentioned that the average age of Shinhwa is 36.5!!! Admit it, that's impressive!
On the other side, these guys are always so hilarious, funny, and dorky, like they're in their 20s.... I adore watching them in variety shows - when the seriousness disappears, and the pure silliness is what remains.

Last year through the unique concept of 'Cyborg', VIXX raised its existence and position and swept the music industry scene. As a byword for concept idol, VIXX has come back with a special single album with a remake hit dance song from the 90s, R.ef's 'Love Equation'.
VIXX's remake of 'Love Equation' contains R.ef's original wonderful melody and carries the exiting points. On top of this, the song has been reinterpreted into VIXX's unique color and was arranged into the current trendy style. The rebirth of VIXX's 'Love Equation' music video was directed by 'Lumpens', who is famous for his polished sentimental interpretation. 

Through the music video which portrays the image of 'youth' moving forward to the future and the story of VIXX's six members who overcome their breakup, you can see VIXX's unique sentimental story and picture never seen before and also hope that you can have the opportunity to meditate the meaning of 'youth'.

Now let's see.
I was a little bit scared/surprised when I saw teasers, because unlike their usual dark concepts, this one seemed to be on the completely opposite side - the cute one.
Cute concept! Why? W.H.Y? Oh, well, I won't be too skeptical about it.. I'll just go with the flow this time... Cuz I adore these dorks!

Hihiihiihih....the way Ravi's pronouncing 'equation'(eekasian) - cutie pie. 
It (MV) starts with Hongbin, ofc - group's visual. He's just lounging around. Mirrors, mirrors everywhere. He's enjoying his beautifulnesssnessness.
Ken, on the other hand, seems lonely and sad.... What can I say - Love is a two way street. Hang in there, Ken-ah.
And then there is Leo's part - basketball seems like an very interesting sport, doesn't it - it just hit me right now.... ( . . . ). He is in Mfinphonenotringing team. 
Leo is not awkward at all(!?!?!?!) - are we witnessing an historical moment over here or what.. He's even smiling in some shots. A lot... What on the earth??? Finally!!! He be flawless. His parts - priceless. Period.
(2:59..what?...ok...I died! Like - kill fans with the look - checked!)
Hyuk's and Ravi's part - cheeky, cheeky! I support the idea. I bet Ravi was embarrassed to the cringing point! Hyuk be cute little diva! 
And then, ofc, leader is going through some hard s***y time with his gf - he is sad, but casually walks away. Sometimes you just have to let go.

 Funny (3rd grade-ish) choreography... Omg.... I'm cringing... C a n't . W a t c h!

At the end - Who needs love, when you have friends! - is a solution of love equation. Shake it off and dance like nobody's watching... Seriously, If you plan to dance this choreo, make sure nobody's watching :P... JK! The dance is fine (... for kindergarten students)... Once again, just kidding... ( . . . ) (psss...I'm not)...

As for the music - . . . I need to replay it... cuz... you know - didn't hear a thing... been watching, been approving errting... I approve the music too, even tho it's too flat and childish kinda ...'90s... Kyah...

The lyrics follows those sad parts of a video - basically, the song is about break ups. Somehow(after reading a transl), I find this video way more colorful, and brighter, and exciting (dance parts esp are... way too euphoric...and those smiley faces...), than it should be... according to lyrics... But why judge... At the end... everything is just fine.
It is, actually, a song about moving on and being happy after you experienced loving someone. Break up is not the end of the world.
Love equation is not necessarily a complicated thing. In fact, it is a very simple one.

Almost forgot to mention - The CLOTHES! I love the clothes! Every piece! I want those clothes! Goldfish - teleport me to Korea, and make me a fabulous stylist!

BRASS SHAKING TIME!!! #kweek

If you are not all about that bass...Try to shake that brass! :)

This time around, SMEnt gave f(x)'s Amber a chance to show her different side with the solo album. 

It was about time to give this girl a 'spotlight' treatment. F(x) debuted back in 2009, and since - Amber was mysterious aura member in a group of 5 girls (4 of them were, let's say...girly girls, and Amber was(still is) tomboy girl who's in charge of rapping).

Other members have had their fair share of attention - variety shows, MC-ing, acting....everything basically... Amber, on the other side, remain mysterious and kinda not visible... until now ofc.

 Finally,  It's her time to shine!!!

First of all, I really like the fact that she started her solo album promotion with the song 'Beautiful'- the song that she wrote and composed. That's the real Amber. And I was impressed with her singing - she explained everything with those lines: "Imma just be me, only me.... I'm happy to be myself"... Being a tomboy Korean-American, raised in a different way, in a different culture must have been hard - she must have had hard times both in America, and Korea (dealing with the acceptance issues everywhere you go- it sucks! big time probably!). That's why I find this song/album even more meaningful, and I'm just happy for her.You go girl, break those prejudices!!!

Onto the BRASS shaking!

It's a title song, and I love it. We have 'Beautiful' that is serious, meaningful, sincere song, and then we have 'Shake that brass' that is the opposite - bright, positive, kinda 'let's have fun' song - these two songs shows perfectly what is Amber all about.

From the first sec of a song/video you know it's gonna be a crazy mashup of colors/instruments/samples/even vocals - from the cute intro (unpleasant orchestra rehearsal (btw, every member of that horrendous orchestra is Amber's celebrity friend, mostly musicians) to breaking songs into many different parts that come one after another out of nowhere. It's a little bit confusing, but it's fuuuuun! 

My favorite parts are brass parts ofc, chorus esp...and then: 'Na na na na na na naaaa' and 'Daradeedadumdumdum, daradeedadumdumdum...' hooks - I love those hooks so much, because they're so unexpected... Anyways, the song sounds like an cohesive unit, despite it's mashupness...

Interesting concept box - as sets, are SM's trademark. In this case, colorful as f is what they have opted for (except that white o.rehearsal room/box). 

Taeyeon's (GG) appearance, featuring kinda thing is a nice touch - another SM's skill - making company's colleagues helping each other. I like T's parts.

I'm not sure about a dance/choreo, cuz those parts are very short in the mv.

And when it comes to fashion/clothes/accessories - well, Amber's style... as expected.

So, a conclusion is: Amber knows hot to party, and she invites you all to do the same!(lyrics summed up)

Can't decide - do I like the music more, or his unique voice, or interesting mv, or his passionate dance moves, or those nicely made coats he's wearing...? What do I like the most?. . . I guess, I like errting. (kinda reminds me of Shinee's Jonghyun and Taemin - the same level of captivating charm they have) :)

So, it's been awhile...

The girls of 4minute have made their comeback earlier this year with the 'Cold rain', but that was just a pre-release - kinda slow jam (like - yes, we can sing ballads)... Few days ago, the long awaited title song was released... And... hmm... I'm pretty sure they haven't expected such a harsh feedback...

To be honest, I was surprised that people threw so much hate on this...

Like... just keep calm, people... Chill!!!

I agree, there are few things that are similar to GD's 'MichiGo' (title) and 'One of a kind' (black and white set, hiphopish  feel), but come on... Aren't all kpop mv's kinda similar... recycled...in the same track...you know -Things already seen...I mean, it's hard to be original, in that kind of a hyper production environment. And just because this mv reminds people of a big star's - GD's mvs it doesn't mean that that was directors intention. Like - in that case - we could say - OMG, look...there are stairs- that's so (you name it) Wonder Girls- Be my babe/Jay Park-Metronome/2pm-ComeBackWhenYouHearThisSong...(and those are just the ones on top of my head rn..) And let's not go into the Black&White themed kpop mvs range (cuz, yeah - there are hundreds similar ones). Relax people...! GD is a very talented artist, but it doesn't mean that the whole world wants to copy him... Ok? Even if director WAS  inspired with mentioned mvs, or artist himself - Plagiarism is a strong word...
So, onto the details... I'll make this short as possible...
Fashion - flawless! 
Accessories - I want every piece... give it to meeeeh! (minus hats with their names-ughh)
Music - well... everything except that 'out of nowhere' chorus - but it does makes the song a lot more interesting...I guess...so...
Set - like I said, nothing new, still effective in a way - it matches nice with the concept of a song. 
Dance - here I like the chorus part, and the rest of members choreo is nice... I do not like 'butts in the air' backup dancers dance...
Lyrics - let's go crazy x100000
Conclusion - it reminds me a lot more of Hyuna's (one of the members solo song) 'RED' than GD's 'One of a kind', to be honest. This is like 'Red' with a pinch of hip hop... ish vibe.

If repetitive 'Ugh' sound is GD's invention(which isn't, cuz music has history... and no, it doesn't start with the GD's debut) - than I'll give the haters credit for that... Even tho, I'm not sure why wouldn't be allowed to other people to use it in their songs..

Clubbers will love this.

I was a fan of his voice from the start.
He deserves this! And so much more!

This song is... beautiful, like seriously beautiful... emotionally powerful and just....just perfect.
From the lyrics, to the music arrangement. From the vocals to the general vibe of a song.... Ahhh, just... True music.. that comforts you, and breaks you... at the same time... Really haven't heard something like this for a while.
Slow jam... just  let it wash over you. It's the kind of a song that makes you think... think deeply about stuff. Everyone... just pause your life for a few minutes, cause this kind of a emotion is rare... and makes you take your time to inhale and exhale!..Sit down, shut up...and enjoy!
